Hopefully the current economic downturn will remind people how important it is to stay out of debt as much as possible.
The issue is that these days, people have little choice but to take out a student loan to allow them to study. The NZ Government needs to immediately introduce free public education. THis will allow people to stay out of debt and give them a better start in life. It will also make it easier on those returning to study.
